They moved the ballpark to a different place from the first concept diagram. What is the deal with that?

I'm thinking they want to maximize commercial space available too. That's what is going to pay for everything in the long run.

Well, CT, from the picture it seems as though you found my post on the Scout board. The ballpark was moved to decrease the views of Walmart, increase the views of Morgantown, and leave more contiguous land open. Rumor has it that if the University ever gets the desire and the money to replace the Coliseum, that the land over at UTC could be an option. More realistically, though, it's about aesthetics and space management in general.

You would be correct. Thanks for posting that there. I hadn't considered the asthetics part with Walmart, but that makes sense. The only negative I can see with that location is signage wouldn't be very visable from heavy traffic areas. If it were me calling the shots there I'd make sure there was a lighted sign visable from the Interstate that would advertise upcoming games and events.

So visiting football fans already get to say "the stadium is next to a trailer park". Now visiting baseball fans will get to say "the stadium is behind a walmart". Absolutely no coherent vision anywhere in Morgantown.

It is actually a beautiful location for a stadium. You couldn't be more wrong. And, with the new Interstate exit access will be terrific.

If only we had a real hockey team so that we could build an arena atop a coal slurry impound...
