The best news about this is that it will eventually connect Morgantown to the Great Allegheny Passage that runs from Pittsburgh to DC. It also will connect Morgantown and the surrounding areas to the existing trail at Cheat Lake, which I'm sure will drastically increase the use of the park and "beach" in the northern part of the lake. In case anyone wanted to know the alignment of the trail in Point Marion and the overall course of the Sheepskin Trail, here you go, courtesy of the National Road Heritage Corridor:
The money for the grant is from the Mellon Family Trust. For bike or hike lovers,, this will essentially connect North Central West Virginia from Clarksburg and also from Preston County all the way into Fayette County, PA. Since it will eventually run to the Great Allegheny Passage it will open up whole new possibilities through the mountains... Pittsburth... Cumberland... the C&O Canal rail trail and all the way to Washington, DC. It also passes by parks for camping and the like.
