Only about $120,000 needs to be raised to complete funding for putting the trail through Point Marion, PA to connect with the awesome Great Allegheny Trail system. It won't be long before hikers and bike riders will be able to trek all the way from Harrison County to Pittsburgh and Washington, DC through the gorgeous Allegheny mountain range.

The State of Pennsylvania will assist with funding. As usual, our state government will not be taking part.

Well, CT, our state government will not be taking part as the scope of this section of trail is completely within PA. The State of Pennsylvania didn't help with the construction of the Mon River Trail from Morgantown to the PA state line, so I wouldn't expect WV to be charitable in this endeavor. Yes, it will help Morgantown, but the construction will be in PA. Also, WV is relatively supportive of the rails-to-trails program with decent maintenance of the existing trails as well as recent work to create a state-wide trail network.

Also, you think we could get a caravan together and take some limestone from Greer off the Decker's Creek Trail and haul it up to the new construction? It would make the project much cheaper and John Raese is too busy whining about everything else to notice it missing!

Yep, I was simply pointing out that our state government is not participating. It is strictly a local and PA endeavor. For all the generosity our state government has had toward rail trails in other parts of the state, they have provided virtually no assistance to us here. Nearly everything that happens in that regard here is a result of local initiative. It would be nice if we could get some state assistance for our infrastructure too. If we had comparable funding assistance we could make our trails even better.

Stealing limestone from Raese is not the answer. His family actually has been generous in support of local initiatives in the past.
