Hello my family will relocate to Morgantown in September due to a great job opportunity with a pharmaceutical company. We have started looking at houses and schools. I have two children. One will start kindergarden and the other child will turn two in July.
My question is this. We have looked at houses at Morningside, Harvest Ridge, and Ashton Estates. What do you guys think of these areas. Also how would you compare Brookhaven, Ridgedale, and Mountainview Elementary.
We live up Morningside Dr in hope gardens. It's a really nice area, pretty quiet. My neice goes to Brookhaven elementary and has since kindergarten. My sister really likes the school. I can't really give opinions on the other areas, because I live in Brookhaven. Hope this helps a bit.

Thank you so much for your help.
As a Morgantown resident and someone who went to school from Morgantown I find Cheat Lake to be the best area. Ashton estates is kinda out in the middle of nowhere. The other developments I am unfamiliar with. Morgantown is growing so fast it is hard to keep up with them. Morgantown doesnt really have bad areas. There is one small public housing estate that is kinda shady but that is all. Osage and Blacksville which are far outside of Morgantown arent ideal but not bad. Any choice you make will be a nice area.
I believe those schools eventually go into MHS which is a GREAT school, but so is UHS. WV has very bad public schools, but Morgantown is a rare exception having good public schools.

I have for the last year. I only spent 20 years living in Morgantown since I was a kid. Should I not offer them advice? Maybe things have changed drastically since 2 weeks ago when I visited my family there last.
All three neighborhoods are nice, upscale developments. My personal choice would be Morningside due to the proximity to stores and services. It also has easy access to I-68.
Personally, I don't know much about the elementary schools. Morgantown really doesn't have any crime issues, but Mountainview is located near what passes as the city's only housing project, so to speak. As far as I know, all the schools are good ones.
Morgantown is thriving and growing, and there are so many new housing developments you could spend weeks looking at them. A lot of it depends on what you want in terms of amenities. If it's proximity to the great outdoors, I would look in the Cheat Lake area. Morningside is good for nearness to stores and so forth. You can also consider the morning commute as an issue. Getting to WV 705 would be important. From Morningside you're only 1 exit from Pierpont and with the work being done on Mileground getting there from Morningside shouldn't be much of an issue in a couple of years.
Welcome to Morgantown!
