Primanti Bros. expanding into Morgantown - Pittsburgh Business Times

Quote:
Primanti Brothers is going to the heart of Mountaineer country.

The Pittsburgh-based restaurant chain, long famous for its mix of french fries and cole slaw topped on its sandwiches, has inked a deal to open a 4,500-square-foot restaurant with outdoor patio space in Suncrest Towne Centre, a new development under construction in Morgantown, W.Va.

It never looked all that good to me but Morgantown would seem to be a good place to expand.

It doesn't look good, but it is delicious (to me at least). The slaw is perfect.

So is this a free standing restaurant or leasing a space in one of the new strip buildings?

They're really missing their target market by opening at STC instead of downtown. Food is not good enough to compete with better restaurants or stand on its own. They're missing out big not being within walking distance of students and bars.

It'll be part of one of the strip buildings. And they're going to have plenty of business. Sure, a place downtown would have been awesome and they would always be packed, but it isn't as if they're exclusively an urban core restaurant. They will be very successful there as 705 sees a lot of traffic from the hospitals, Mylan, the stadium, etc, not to mention all the people who live around there as well.

Plus, as a silver lining, this potentially leaves space downtown for something else that would be uniquely Morgantown, hopefully.

I used to really like primantis before it got really trendy. I still stop at the one in Greensburg occasionally but I'm not a fanboy of the place any longer. That fake meat patty sandwich is disgusting. Lol

The selections grow with more chains like this, but the actual variety doesn't change when these places come to town, IMO. Might as well be another Cheddars or Ruby Tuesday...
