TheDPost.com - Demolition exposes old advertisements

I saw this and immediately wanted to contact the building owner to urge them to preserve this mural/ad. I love the old nostalgia in it and can only hope it's restored. It reminds me of the mural on the building above Daniels that depicts Downtown Morgantown and is sponsored by McDonald's (obviously not on downtown). Also, that side of the building will stay exposed as the new CVS will be attached to the current BB&T building, so not only do we have a cool piece of history in the ad, but all those windows are now re-exposed and hopefully can house some quality apartments or offices.

Once upon a time McDonalds was located downtown. That was probably the early/mid 70s I think.

Was it where Massulo's is? I know DQ was originally in the small building between that and the Sprint store.

It was on the other side of the street from the cleaners, but I don't remember exactly where it was. I often wondered why they pulled out of High Street. It always seemed to be busy.

This is very cool - I actually own one of the Comuntzis sons' former residence so I did some research on the Comnutzis family. I thought 368 High Street was Comuntzis Confectionary, not a restaurant according to Gibbies: Gibbie's Pub & Eatery - Morgantown, WV - Dub V Nightlife.

This is what the Metropolitan Threatre (also owned by Comuntzis) looked like in 1930: Bank Night at the Met | Appalachian History

I am friends with a Comuntzis, and she says the confectionary was first, the other developments later.
