Of course they're excited! It's Developers Gone Wild with tax payer money. Instead of making Morgantown great, we're blowing up land for out of city office parks. It's like the 90's just reached Morgantown!
Why in the world would Wetzel County care? It's not as if this will magically make an I-68 extension happen, and this development is only on the other side of the Interstate from Morgantown. Do they think it's in Blacksville or Mannington?

They care because it shows momentum to move development, which will continue unabated in any case, in their direction. There is no question that people from Blacksville, and as far away as Hundred will benefit from the new jobs created. There is also renewed interest and support for the I-68 extension due to oil and gas resources.

How nice of you to show up with your usual dose of negativity. Morgantown is pretty much developed within the city limits, and there are efforts underway for significant development within the limits, but those efforts are temporarily restrained by old guard interests. The development is going to happen in any event. Being near the Interstate, that is an excellent place for it to happen. People who live in the city will benefit greatly from the developments too, including being able to work there.
This is an excellent plan for developing the western part of Mon County, and this will no doubt attract more corporate offices to NCWV. I would also imagine housing developments to start taking place on that side of the highway as well, something that has been limited because of the lack of connectivity to the rest of the city.
This interchange will be an optimal location for a new Sheetz.
LOL I was going to talk about that in my earlier post, but opted not to.
