I used to defend my home and beloved WV. The last decade has basically proved that residents simply do not want progress. Has anyone ever actually taken a cab in morgantown? You'd have better luck posting a "looking for a talented driving serial killer" style post on Craigslist than to get into one of the hoopties these sub-par sub-humans operate. This state gets sadder and sadder.... I guess we at least lead the nation in per capita sheetz

I don't get the impression that here in Morgantown there is any particular bias against gay people, but in general we don't care for people who exhibit a pompous, elitist, look down on the working guy attitude that individual seems to want to manifest. He probably belongs in a gay friendly community somewhere around Charlottesville.
As to the Uber bill, it is a shame that it didn't pass muster here, but there are various regions within the state that have different attitudes on the matter, and some of the more rigidly religious folks don't want to broach the issue. In general, that doesn't apply here in Morgantown.

The reasoning for it not passing was poor but taxi's or whatever are a pretty rate commodity in WV to start with. I know more people wished people would turn to transportation outside of personal cars but in a state like WV for the vast majority it's just not feasible.
So while I support the idea and dislike the reasoning for it not passing it really isn't something many are going to care about.
P.S. I dislike the read between the lines reasoning but I believe people should be able to serve or not serve whoever they want.
I think the world of Bob Beach. He is a personal friend and he is doing a great job. I think he will keep representing our district, but I see no indication that his party is going to gain any strength in 2 years. The days of unions dominating West Virginia politics appear to largely be at an end. Only 20% of the workers in the state are represented by them, and I think most voters have finally figured that out. Some of the policies promoted by both parties are hard to take for the average person in our state. It is unfortunate the UBER didn't pass. It is equally disturbing that Bloomberg seems to have bought certain folks representing us in government. But it is what it is, and I don't think it will change any time soon.
One thing has always puzzled me though. When 18 year olds are eligible to vote, and few bother to get involved. I see that two ways. I wouldn't be very happy personally to have 30,000 recently indoctrinated by professors socialists muddying up the waters, but on the other hand if someone could get young folks motivated to register and vote lots of positive things could happen in Morgantown that would overcome the old guard resistence to positive development and change.
No Uber in Nevada either! They operated for less than one week here and the powerful mob-like tax unions gave Uber one swift kick! And not one murder of a Uber driver, which really surprised me!
Keeping Uber out is all based on money areas all over the country are trying to keep them out. Taxi companies are practically a mob business and they don't want any competition.
Well, that's certainly bad news for the out of towners coming in for game weekends. Looks like it'll be just like old times at WVU having to rely on the laughable taxi service to get around town after taking in the nightlife. LOL..how can you not have Uber in 2015?
