Frank Scafella is hopeful of generating interest in what they call four-seasons development in the ugliest part of Sunnyside. Good luck, they'll need it. Anybody here know what exactly is meant by four-seasons? All I can think is that they mean residents who live in their apartments year-round...
The RFP sheds a bit more light on this. Basically, Sunnyside Up would like the neighborhood to attract residents other than college students. They're hoping to get about 280 living units with onsite parking. My take on it is that they want to attract the types who move to Morgantown but usually end up purchasing townhouses on the outskirts of town.
Just imagine how much better the entire project would be if that power plant weren't there. I understand the University needs it for steam, I just wish it could be somewhere else is all.

That is the reason that I believe this is all a pipe dream. Nobody but students will be interested in living in the shadow of a power plant.
Can you believe that power plant was built in the late 80s/early 90s? At a time when other cities were shaming their ugly coal fired power plants into either closing or being rebuilt somewhere hidden, the city of Morgantown decided to double down and put that incredibly ugly monstrosity in a prime spot right on the river in downtown Morgantown. It will be a deterrent for any real development as long as it exists.
I heard about a year or two ago, they will be decommissioning that plant within next 10 years and university is supposed to build a recycling plant thing that burns the university garbage to get the steam they need. But that was a couple years ago so it might have changed by now. But they definitely need to do away with that power plant, terrible placement.
