I disagree. The offense is very good, and the defense is getting a whole lot better. They lost a very close one today against the #8 team in the country, and if not for a couple highly questionable calls, they might well have won the game. Special teams is the teams weakness, and it definitely needs work, but this team will win it's share of games this year.

On the other hand, the baseball team, with a lot of new players, won the first game of the Fall today.

9 straight losses to top 25 teams. That is just BAD, no way to sugar coat it.

Let me ask you this ... there is a reason teams are in the Top 25. They are better than the other 140 teams out there. Most of the losses that you're mentioning happened on the road, which makes winning such games even more difficult. There is nothing shameful about playing a Top 25 team and losing, especially on the road. How it it "sugar coat"ing anything to have winning records, when basically your only losses have been to Top 25 teams on the road? This is a damned good team that will win some games in one of the best conferences in the country. They are playing with a lot of new players and getting better every week. Odds are they will end up with a decent record this year and play in a bowl game against another Power 5 team. Next year, they are certain to be better.

It could be a whole lot worse. They could be stinking the place out like Pitt for example, or be stuck in one of those conferences where nobody cares whether or not they win or lose. They are part and parcel to a highly successful and popular, $97 million per year athletic program. There is little to be concerned about regarding the Mountaineer football program.

BASKETBALL SEASON TICKETS STILL ON SALE

But, they are going fast. More than 7,100 season tickets have been sold for home games featuring Kentucky, Virginia, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, Iowa State and other outstanding opponents playing in Morgantown. Several of these games are guaranteed sellouts, and the only way to assure yourself of tickets is through season tickets. West Virginia features a talented and experienced group of players from the NCAA Tournament team of last season.

Beating teams the caliber of Kansas and making a bowl game is not impressive to most people. Nine straight losses to Top 25 teams says we donít belong in the top 25. We should beat teams on our level and sometimes knock off someone a little better. We havenít been doing either. Those arenít lofty expectations.

Every year, a different team takes the field. It is short sighted to even compare one year to the next. So far this year, even with questionable officiating at times, our team has lost by 1 touchdown to a team currently in the Top 20, and another currently ranked #6 in the country. One of those loses was at a neutral site, and the other at the #6 teams home field. You have to be hiding under a rock if you don't think this team is capable of playing with anybody in the country. The only losses were narrow losses to highly ranked teams away from home. They are going to win some games this year.

College football is rigged and fixed more than any pro sport. They didn't want TCU to lose because they want to try and get a big 12 team into the playoffs, so WVU had to be the sacrificial lamb. It's all about the money. WVU needs to get out of the Big 12, it's a fact. There is no way anyone can say otherwise after that game vs TCU. Let's not forget the game where they ripped Clint Trickett's helmet off and gave him a concussion, they called zero penalties on TCU on that play.

I agree that there were a couple of really bad calls in that game, but I was actually there, and I'm not convinced they were intentional. The XII is awesome for WVU. There are bad calls in every game, and unless one team is dramatically better than the other, bad calls can sometimes determine the outcome.
