Macy's is coming! One of the county commissioners announced this morning on Facebook that Macy's will be building off the new exit, either on standalone pad or as a standalone store as an anchor for the West View Shopping center.
Also, the long rumored Fortune 500 company has morphed into possibly two "large businesses" being built here. One is supposedly guaranteed with the other being negotiated right now. He wouldn't say who but he said it would be a big deal.
And finally, he confirmed that WVU Medicine will be building a big, state of the art children's hospital on one of the pads and the new facility will employee an additional 800-1000 employees over what the children's hospital currently has.
Macy's is in a slump closing stores left and right in actual big cities, but they decide to build a standalone store in Morgantown? This doesn't make sense

Maybe we skipped over winter and went straight to April 1st.
I'm really intrigued by the Children's Hospital. I know they've been trying to figure out how to grow at the HSC/Ruby, but didn't figure a standalone hospital was in the cards. One would think building near the new Outpatient Center would be logical, thereby creating a second medical campus. But I don't think there's room for that.

Supposedly that surgery center slated for at UTC might be built near the hospital where WIC and the other county offices are. And then they might expand the current ambulatory facility up at UTC since it is beyond capacity.
I don't understand why the county commission is playing economic developer in the sprawling outskirts while your core city sits vacant and dilapidated.

They should, focusing on the water front area and working out would be a great idea, but any new types of construction that want to do something in downtown, they get sued until they leave thanks to a few a$$&%@*! that want to be the only people to make money in the city.
As for why he isn't, he has a personal vendetta with the city.
