West Virginia Botanic Gardens
Well, I just learn something new everyday! I didn't know we had a botanical garden here in WV. It's outside of Morgantown. I can't wait to go! The plans for the future look promising! Check out there web page if you love gardens. (not sure if I'm allowed to post the web page here?) I'll will be supporting them with a donation. I would have long before now if I knew about..so I thought I'd help spread the word!
Has anyone else been there?

The Core Arboretum is a small tribute to a great West Virginian..
Dr. Earl Core was from the western part of Mon County and one of WVU's most distingushed educators...authored many books in his botanical field but the great gift he gave us was our history...The 5 volume Monongalia Story being the best and most comprehensive work for our area...
It is not possible to give a credible thanks for the gift of his life to us...if there was a negative, it is this:
The bulk of his research work was given to the Public Library when he died...never locked and monitered to safeguard it for others in the future...eventually pilfered of all worthy content...if he had given that body of information to the university, someone would have came forward to protect it...
That said...I will add that Dr. Core's life shows what dedication and hard work can do in a short lifetime...an example of gentel goodness...

Isn't the Core Aboretum seperate from the WV botanic Gardens? West Virginia Botanic Garden
I haven't been to the Aboretum. Is it open to the public? I tried to find a web page but couldn't.
Often times treasures are donated to libraries like that. Even worse, sometimes families donate books and papers to thrift stores. Stuff like that shows up on ebay all the time.

Sharedspirit...You are right....wonder where that old reservior would be...Would have had to be on the hill above town...on the Dorsey side...I'll see if I can find it...old photos lurk in the dust...
The Arboretum is almost directly across the highway from the CAC.

Thanks David and vec101 for the info on the core arboretum. I'll be calling tomorrow to find out if it's open and what their hours are. I'll post what I find out here.
