Nowadays, I think people are guilty of buying "too much house", period.

Seems to be (at least around here) that the new 'in thing' is buying the least you can comfortably live in, rather than the most you can stretch to. People will laugh at the guy buying a 4,000 sq ft McMansion and applaud the guy buying the 1,500 sq ft place.
