Sorry, delusional young person that just fell off the turnip truck, here *shrugs and waves*
Some of you might appreciate this and some might just be annoyed.
How the the holy heck have we gotten to the point where if we ever finally pay off a mortgage, we've paid more than double what we borrowed. It makes me want to curl up in a ball and live in a hole in the ground...one which I can immediately pay cash for.
Let this be the annoying, fresh voice of innocence and ignorance. This seems criminal and more like maddness than anything.
Why do people accept these terms?
What drives this market? Greedy investors? Supply/demand? Dumb people like me that can't multiply and add?
I know!...that's why I don't think anyone will care about my little-person plight on here. I've just had a bad day--dealing with reality 'n all. Why didn't I go into real estate? me and my damn liberal arts degree!
you are absolutely right. Us liberal arts people are taught how to read and become experts in whatever interests us. Right now, I'm interested in what vipers are behind the mortgage companies--no offense to any mortgage brokers.
What? Only double the original amount borrowed?!!! I remember the double-digit mortgage interest 80's. Our $38,000 home in the Midwest would have ended up costing us over $133,000 over the life of the mortage!!! That was 11% interest then. I would have loved to have seen 6.5% back then. Seriously, enjoy these low interest rates, cause you "don't know what you've lost til it's gone".
i seriously think my head is about to explode or spontaneously combust, but seriously...wwwhhhyyy
this doesn't seem any better than those pay-day lending snake holes.
Would you deposit your money into a bank that doesn't give you interest on it? If so, I'm going to open a bank!
