I called my lender Green Tree Servicing. I asked the service representative that I am interested in HARP refinance program. She took all the information and replied saying you are not eligible for this program because your state is excluded from HARP program. I aske dher I have never heard that some states are excluded from HARP program. She said five states are excluded from this program.
Is this true????

I think she was lying to you. A quick google shows nothing. This is for all loans owned by freddie or fanny.

I called Greentree again and told them that Wellfargo confirmed that they did HARP refinance for owners in virginia. That person took 10 minutes to search all documents and website and came back said he could not find any information online, but he has internal document . He went back again and said they ar enot licenced to do HARP in virginia.

sounds like the bank is just jerking you around. Go somewhere else and find another bank that will do harp refi's. It will require some research on your part, unless you want to hire a broker.

I have a customer that is buying a new home right now. She's doing HARP's on her 1 investment property and soon to be investment property, simultaneously. All homes are in VA.

Green Tree is right up there with Seterus with the slime factor.

Guess it could be that they are not licensed to write new business in VA, but are licensed as a servicer.
