We are planning on moving from California to WI... once we find the house we want, where are we suppose to apply for the mortgage loan, here in CA or there in WI? Keep in mind though that we will only be moving to Wisconsin after the house closes escrow. Any advice?

Wisconsin. The lender there will have local contacts for appraisers, title companies, etc.

If you are selling here in California and buying there, I would suggest you use a Relo agent who can connect you to both a agent and lender on the other end as well get your home sold here. That way they are allllllll working together to ensure your interest are being looked after.
If I can help, I am just an email away.

applying for the mortgage loan isnt the problem
finding an attorney/title company who will do the closing is.

the lender always fedex's the documents over to the attorney.

you working with a lender in a WI or CA will not make a difference because they will work with your attorney/title company.

The lender only needs to be licensed in WI and they can do the loan. Typically someone who is licensed there will have some local contacts, so they shouldn't have a problem doing a loan.

Depending on where you buy be sure and have the property examined by a pro... lots of flooding in certain areas. You want to be sure you don't run into some mold issues leftover from that. More than likely you should expect to see it on the property disclosures, but not everyone is honest these days.

How do you feel about that brilliant state law where NO ONE can go stated income, even if they are self employed and truly deserve it?
