I'm changing jobs and relocating to another state. I've been put in touch with a local mortgage broker on the recommendation by a friend but I still feel it my duty to shop around and compare rates.

When using Bankrate.com, you see a lot of interesting rates (for very highly qualified, etc) that get my attention. However, when you Yelp most of these companies and read the reviews, they're horrible!

Anyone got advice on shopping for a mortgage? What companies to absolutely avoid or use? Other advice?
Let's face it, the main goal is to get the lowest rate with the least expenses.

Thanks in advance.
