We're puchasing a new construction in a development. Home will be finished early November and we are scheduled to close on November 15th. We've already been approved for our VA mortgage which we're doing through our builder. Will the shut down affect our closing?

Thanks!

I'm not a lender, but from the information our office got on mortgages, the VA loans will continue to operate as normal.
Your builders rep should be able to advise you.
Good luck.

Depends where you are in the process. Your lender should be able to obtain your Case File 3, but obtaining your DD214 and Certificate of Eligibility might meet with a delay.

Major investors have waived Tax Transcript requirements temporarily. However banks are requiring proof of filed 2012 returns (bad news for those who filed extensions), and once the shutdown ends and transcripts are acquired, major investors may kick back the loans they purchased if there are unsolvable discrepancies.

If you have any SS# discrepancies, you may have to visit your local SS office to obtain a stamped letter verifying your SS#.
