Years ago I purchased a house, got a loan from local bank. We went to the the bank for the closing and they had an attorney present and a couple other bank people. I had a loan that paid down points. As we were going along the piles of paperwork I noticed as clueless as I was to the process that the charge for points was not listed. I brought that to attention even though I didn't have a clue if I even knew what I was asking. Everyone at the round table just glossed over my question making me feel even more
clueless.
Fast forward a week or so get a call from the bank, sorry we forgot to charge that 2,000 or so for points
I said well the house is closed and I don't think I can just bring you up a check, don't we have to close again? I mean for legal reasons. Let me get some quick legal advice and get back to you. Called a real estate attorney and he just said its your lucky day, you don't have to pay anything. So I told the bank
what the attorney said and they were angry, but I never heard from them again. So much for that attorney representing them.
The bank will have to pay or eat the cost. Too bad on their end.
