For the mortgage professionals, do you attend all of your signings?
I just ordered docs yesterday and I am setting the signing appointment for Friday afternoon. My mentor always told me that it is best to attend all of your signings in person. For one, if there are any questions at the signing table you don't leave the title agent in the position of answering questions that don't pertain to them, as well as giving that personal touch to the loan process. I haven't missed one yet. Obviously if you do out of state loans then you can't.
So I was just curious, how many mortgage professionals here attend all of their signings and why?

Most of my loans are done out-of-state.
There's no way I can come to the closing table lol.
I always appear to my closings when it's local.

I go to local closings. Same deal with closing beyond a 50 mile radius as renriq02.

You best do so if you value RE Agent referrals. The number one, two and three criteria for a loan officer to whom we refer is customer care. And we show up for all signings even though we are third wheels.
And yes you need to be competent...but that is about a five minute conversation. It is the customer service delivery that keeps you on our list.

I do, and I do. The main reason I attend is for the client, for their comfort, to answer any questions they might have, and to lessen the burden on the closing agent. You attend all of your clients' signings as well? I haven't had a Realtor show up to a signing yet. Maybe I'm working with the wrong Realtors.

Your realtors don't show up to the closing? Are you serious? IMO, realtors that don't show up to their own closings shouldn't be in the business.

Not once. I believe the Realtor working on the deal that we are signing today will be there, but she disappeared for about a week during processing (actually in the hospital with kidney stones, but did not make anyone aware of this). Perhaps I should really look into being more selective about who I work with, as I think it casts me in a negative light as well.

Yes, I attend all of my closings as long as it is within driving distance. If I cannot attend I sit right next to the phone until I get the call that it is done.

I attend all local closings and always have unless there is an emergency. I even attend a few of my out of town purchase closings if I can make it. I always thought it was part of the service.
Its the moment to shine and shake a happy homeowners hand. The only LOs that don't show are the ones that do not care or are too busy laughing at how they suckered the client.
