Sorry for the naive question, but I'm a first time homebuyer in Atlanta, and I'm set to close next week. I received my HUD settlement statement today. I'm looking at the statement and making sure there aren't any errors, but are there specific things that you'd caution that I'd pay close attention to? Thanks!

The whole purpose of the HUD1 is to make you aware of all of the numbers involved in your transaction. For a newbie, posting on a forum may not give you all the understanding you require. Do you have a real estate agent who can go over it with you?

You should ask your lender to go over every line item if you don't understand.

You should ask your buyer's agent to explain all those numbers to you.

Bring your good faith estimate and have your agent go over those numbers and compare it to the hud-1. Anything that's on the good faith and not on the hud-1 have them explain it to you.
