Some of you might have already noticed this. 30yr fixed mortgages are getting quoted in the 5.5-5.75% range this week !

I know, I'm loving it. I'm closing on my new house in 2 1/2 weeks, and my broker is getting ready to lock me in somewhere in that range (he's watching the rates now).

Yes, but it depends where in the country you are and what type of loan, they are all not the same and not everyone can qualify for that rate, but yes they are coming down this week due to the Fannie bail out.

Rates are not down by 1%, they dropped from Friday at around 6% to 5.5% monday. As of today, rates have creeped up by .125% which in my opinion is just a slight step back. With the huge improvement, we had to give a little back but in my opinion rates will continue to drop its just sometimes you take 3 steps forward and 1 back.
