OK , It may have taken a bit longer then some but my home value went backwards ( mortgage more then it's worth) We never miss a payment and job/money is not an issue. I see people all over getting help, why shouldn't I jump on the band wagon....

I can't tell if you're being tongue-in-cheek or not, but in case you're serious I'll just quote Jon Stewart:
Quote:
If you don't stick to your values when they're being tested, they're not values, they're hobbies.
Don't give up your values just because everyone else is.

If everyone jumped off a cliff, would you do it, too? [/my mother]

If you even have to ask, then nothing we say is really going to matter is it.

We're not planning onit but I wonder how many people are? Thats what I'm really looking for. Is this a trend and does it increase the problem?

I am watching very carefully. I am in a situation where the drop in values have eliminated my equity, laid off and no job prospects, living on savings waiting for SS eligibility.

The mortgage is the my largest expenditure and discussion with my mortgage company says I am not eligible for refinance as I have no employment or equity, my loan is owned by Fannie Mae which says you must be 90 days late before you qualify for help.

So I am not in trouble immediately but am looking to be destitute in five to ten years. So after being a responsible contributor to society for over fifty years I find I am paying taxes on my IRA withdrawals so it can be spent to help people that have been very irresponsible.

I don't expect justice in this world but am looking for a strategy to help myself.

I usually can't stand Jon Stewart but this is a great quote.

I would honor all my commitments to the best of my ability, but that's me.

Do you know someone getting help and the kind of help they are getting? Be careful not to buy into any hype on great deals for troubled homeowners. The "help" might be more than you bargained for.

Middle America is fed up....sick and tired.

Do be vocal, word has it the new VP is heading up a task force on the middle class. Start there and don't stop there. Senators. Congressional Representatives.

Vocalize often.
