Hi, I am also in NJ and need to pick a home owners ins co.. I got quotes from Liberty Mutual and State Farm, so far State farm is much lower...but I am still debating if I should get more quotes...if anyone else has any suggestions
I use state farm, only because I have other insuarance with them and get a couple discounts. My agent is also very easy to get a hold of in case I have any questions or need to change policies.
If you're military, I've heard nothing but good things about USAA

State Farm was low but they completely missed the mark on the replacement cost of my home. I think they deducted the square footage of my garage from the overall home size.
I've called 5 or 6 places and Selective Insurance has come up with the best price and higher limits than the rest. I've found that I'm better off staying with Geico and raising my limits for my car insurance though.
I use a company called Anpac for my home and auto insurance. Their home policy was about even with all the other quotes I received, but their auto rates are awesome. I wanted to have my insurance all with the same company and they gave massive multi-car discounts when my fiancee and I put our cars on the same policy.
I got a similar quote between Geico and Allstate (slightly lower thru allstate) for NJ.
Allstate really? I called Allstate and the agent basically told me to go pound salt. That unless I had an existing policy with them they couldn't help me.
