I've lived long enough to know not to bet on something like this until, as it's said, "The fat lady sings". Looks good for it to go all the way, but I'm cautious that way.
Didn't the 15k initially pass the senate only to get shot down by the house?
Never made it to a vote.
And TexasHorseLady is correct, although current proposal has passed the Senate, people tend to forget the process for making a bill into law. Still has to get House approval, then President's signature. The title of the OP's post is incorrect.

Being as Obama has been widely & openly supportive of the credit, it's as good as done. It's as good as official.

You may be correct that it will pass the House and get signed, but it is not official until then. Sorry to nitpick, but "good as official" does not hold legal status. What about others reading this staking their purchase decision on "good as official" and for some reason it does not get signed into law?

If you are staking your purchase decision on the $8K credit.... you probably shouldn't be buying a home to begin with!
