I started riding back in the early 70's. I remember one day back then, I was pulled over and told to quiet the bike down. This was about 1976 I think. In comparison, today. I can hear the neighbor a few doors down, about 5:30 every morning, with his Harley and straight pipes, and must blip the throttle a hundred times I guess to let everybody know he has a bike.

Well, there is another example of feelings of sexual inadequacy, likely due to the aforementioned "small wiener".

As for the "hair dryer" sound, perhaps the person riding the bike with that sound likes it. Now would that be classical, rock, C&W...?
...I think most of the "new breed" of biker should take a course on where 1st gear is located...they always seem to be revving up looking for a way to get it in gear....It's one down btw...

Naw...it's the mating call of the Nutless Boobie...a rare species of bird born without testicles and closely related to the "Sh^tbird.

If one must depend on loud pipes to save himself (a debatable proposition at best), he's in a world of trouble.

Very true...perhaps learning to ride would make better sense...plus they could avoid getting ripped at the "offally licensed" HD dealer or online stores who charge rip off prices for drag/straight pipes.

Beside the street bike I had. I have to admit. I did have a few 2 stroke motox bikes (Cr250, Rm250, kx450),in the mid 70's and early 80's, that I loved to run without the silencer just to see how much noise I COULD make.

Since the majority of noise is projected to the rear of the motorcycle your theory is false. Visual warnings such as flashing lights and Bright coloring provide a greater degree of safety to a rider. How come every time some idiot has loud pipes he rarely has any of the effective safety precautions in place? If safety was the main concern would it not make sense to wear a fluorescent vest/helmet?

Nope- I do not buy your B.S., Loud pipes are for attention starved losers who need people to notice them EVEN IF FOR THE WRONG REASONS. They are pigs who think nothing of intruding on others peaceful enjoyment of life. It shows total disregard and respect for other people and their rights.

Hmmmmmm. What is the reason for loud pipes? My answer, short and sweet, some bike owners are anatomically challenged and have to overcompensate somehow.

And before anyone fires at me, I am a rider, not a biker or pirate, and have been riding for over 40 years.
