My first Trumpet was a mid 90's Sprint with Micron "race only" cans. I likened the sound it made to a banshee being torn in half. The bike only got 35mpg but I suspect it was because of the time spent at redline.

I'll put my Aprilia v-twin up to the Pepsi challenge. Of course on something like this, there are no losers.

And I'd toss up one of the Honda v4's with the gear driven cams. That was the thing I missed the most (well, and the power delivery that's unique to the V4) when testing out various Triumph triples. But the Triumph triple is the Closest I've found in a modern bike engine to my idea of "perfection".

Dang, now I'm going to have to go and search CL for older VFRs.....

My present '96 Trophy (1200cc inline 4 cyl) is sporting D&D carbon cans. It sounds just like an old F-1 car with a Cosworth DFV engine.

Rumor is that the new Trophy 1200 will have the same engine as the Tiger 1200 Explorer, which is an awesome engine, and still a triple which has a sound like no other.
