When in doubt, wear neon green with a strobe light attached to your helmet.
Doesn't help always help.

I've had them stare at me for several seconds and watched their eyes move following me. And then pull out in front of me anyway.

My local retailer only has my size available in black. I'm not really hung up on color, but could anyone out there who regularly wears a black full-face, fully vented helmet in hot weather comment as to whether the black color significantly contributes to overheating? My current helmet is charcoal grey and I don't perceive any such effect. Or maybe I'm just used to it. My other choice in the same price range is white, but I need the new hat by Saturday for a jaunt to the eastern Sierra and they don't have a white one in stock.
It's more important to get a good vented helmet than a light-colored one. My "skid lid" obviously doesn't have any venting, but my full-face touring helmet does. I've found that if it's so hot that my head is sweating, the rest of me is too hot as well.

I'm really looking at a modular. Keep seeing those *******s on BMWs with their fancy Schuberths looking all comfortable. Scorpion makes a nice modular for about $300-350. I'm coming up on the five-year mark on my helmet, however... and I'm not so sure about a modular as my only lid. I haven't run a track day in years so maybe.

This is what I've got. I don't know that it's the best helmet available - probably not. But it suits my needs. If I'm on the highway, I wear this one. If I'm in town, I wear a "skid lid" type.
