Im an old guy, Ive had quite a few sportbikes . . . The speed is intoxicating, but they dont do anything well on the street.
Ive had Harley too . . . They are the other end of the spectrum. Most "old guys" go through many phases then end up with more upright, street type bikes. I would recommend that to you. No, you wont have the brainsplitting acceleration, but you will have a bike that performs so much better all around, and with less effort, you will wish you went standard first. Not a slam on you or anyone else, but I feel people that get on sportbikes as their first rides, are bypassing a lot of basic skill sets related to bike handling. After 40 years riding, I believe starting small and working up is the best way motorcycle. I wish more people would start out on little 250 and 400 cc dual sport bikes. Riding the small bikes hard really moves hones your bike handling skills
But, have fun and be safe on whatever you decide

You can purchase my 2002 Honda VTR1000F Superhawk. Very similar to the SV650, with grown-up power

I rode an SV650 for about 3 years, have had this VTR for a year and change...but I'm getting out of riding for a while and the toy needs to go.

Ive heard VTR's with Yoshi's on and it has to be the most righteous thunder in all of motorcycling
In 1998, I passed in a VTR for a RR900. Dumb. I got rid of the RR 6 months later. The VTR was a whopping 999.00 on sale.

Age is just a number and all that matters is how you FEEL (from a 50 year old LADY who rides sport bikes!)

oooohhhhh, forgot about the VTR. That one was on my short list for a while. They do make some awesome music, like a Ducati without the Italian tempermental.

The aftermarket is FULL of parts that can make any ride more tolerable. Is it going to turn a CBR into a Goldwing? No, but you'd be suprised what a mild rise clip-on height or a litle more legroom from adjustable pegs can do.

It doesn't matter. Most people who own and drive fast toys/cars actually drive slow in the fast lane or slow in all lanes and mess up the traffic flow. Seriously, watch most people over the age of 30 who drive a fast car or bike, they are always riding/driving slow. I've never understood buying speed but using it the opposite of how it was designed to operate......

Never ever care what others think about your motorcycle choice! I will ride sport/sport touring bikes as long as I can do so safely.

If I can ride the bike I have now at age 60 or older (of course the newest model by the time I hit 60)... I will certainly do so! Zoom Zoom!

I ride a Burgman 650cc Scooter. I usually leave other bikes way behind unless they use their bigger engines to close up on the straits. This thing is a middleweight sports bike in disguise. I love it.
