Out of my 40 bikes so far I can name about 3 or 4 that came stock with a comfie seat I could stand for 2 or 3 hours. Had a 86 Honda 1100 Shadow that had a great seat. My 98 Valkyrie had a giant seat that would be killing me in an hour and the same said for both of my FJR's. 87 Goldwing wasn't too bad.
In all of my forum reading usually the first thing tossed on a bike is the stock seat, and then 100's of $ spent on a new custom. I don't know why we expect great engineering on the rest of the bike and then tolerate a seat that feels like a 2x4 in 30 minutes. Small dirt bikes I can see getting a pass, up on the pegs a lot and no cross country. What say the collective.........just a pet peeve of mine.........not hard to stuff a little extra foam in that seat...........

I believe shape matters more than padding. In Princeton NJ there is I believe a war memorial with a concrete seat surrounding its base, it's just concrete but its shape makes it quite comfortable to sit on.
The problem isn't the seat. Its the rampant obesity of the riders that put too much pressure on the tailbone.
Ask a skinny guy if his ass ever hurts.
Mine does. My boney ass has yet to find a comfortable stock seat.
And what is up with stock Yamaha seats that have a forward tilt? Easy fix, but really?
