Question Revving at red lights - anyone here do it?

I'm wondering if anyone here typically revs their engine at red lights while waiting for the light to change. If you do, can you explain why you do it? I find it annoying personally... thanks.

i occassionally give a quick blip before i start to let out the clutch. i really don't know why; maybe i secretly have a need to be a *** (see the SP episode thread). i do it in my car as well, though, and that thing is just a bone stock Scion. somehow it's just a habit with manual transmission vehicles i got myself into.

but if you're eluding to those ones that seem to have to sit and rev over and over again, i'm completely on board with you. if you need to draw that much attention to yourself, at least be original and wear a clown suit or something. and if you need to rev to keep the bike running (an excuse i have sometimes heard), may i suggest you find a mechanic who actually knows what they're doing.

Mike

I seldom do it, unless the bike isn't happy about idling. Some of the loud-pipe crowd do it because they think it's cool to do it and they get to annoy others.

I don't need to impress anyone, so no, I don't.

I can hear mine when I'm sitting still idling, but I can just barely hear it when on the highway at a steady pace. The intake makes more noise than the exhaust when I accelerate hard on it.

I did many years ago, but that was back when I was young and stupid. Obviously, I've outgrown that practice today.

My new scooter is the only bike Ive ever had that has fuel injection,
but with all my other bikes, idling was how I knew if I was in tune
or not. After you do carbs, tune-up, etc, how steady the idle held
was a good indication if I did OK or needed to do more work.
A nice, smooth 1200 rpm idle that doesnt waver is as nice a sound
to me as the 200db rev-mating call is to the loudpipe cr0-mags
