Theres so many popular and older films that arent on blu-ray yet.
Whats takes so long? Will most people keep dvds or go 100% blu-ray?
I only own 25-30 dvds so will probably replace what i can on blu-ray.

I just got a blu ray player. I have maybe 80 regular dvds.
I'm not going to go crazy purchasing blu rays, but I did buy a few that were only $10-$20. I like when films get the Criterion Collection treatment, but that will be a special purchase for me, maybe just twice a year.
I don't know why it takes so long for blu ray, but I can wait.
I did pre-order The Last of the Mohicans blu ray.

If you haven't already purchased a Blu-Ray player, don't bother. There will be no such thing as DVDs (of any sort) in 5-10 years. Maybe less if the economy recovers.

What will there be?
I'm not too worried about my rather small (under $300) investment for the player, but am curious as to what the replacement for dvds will be.

i can answer that question... Blu-ray stinks. If you watch the commercials. They make the pic look soo good. Uh hello if you can do that for a commercial on a dvd then you dont need to create a new damn disc that people wont pay for

they release movie on dvd then you buy it, then they release movies on blue ray and you buy it. They make more profit by releasing blue rays after dvd release. Same thing with extended edition and directors cuts

This is why I don't have that many dvds (comparatively speaking).
If there is a movie I really want to see but haven't, I Netflix it.
Then I'll wait for either the Criterion edition, or just a version with more special features.
I really like movies, but only ones I buy are ones I know I'll want to see again and again, and/or learn more about.

Im pretty selective as well,i only buy dvds i really really love...
Im guessing blu-ray is the last media format?maybe it will just be a data file.
Seems boring just a file,no actual media,no case with cover...
I wonder if getting music rights is why blu-rays are so slow to come out???

You must have a heckuva DVD player is all I can say.

Our Blu-Ray player here is awesome. It runs rings around both of our DVD players - plus we have a big screen now. The clarity and sharpness and motion of people and things is unbelievable. We'll never go back to DVDs, ever.

We don't buy Blu-Ray discs. We just rent from Netflix.

Yeah Blue ray copies are so much better than their DVD counterparts. You need the right tv of course. I have both Avatar and Avatar Blue ray. HUGE difference.
