I liked that one. I didn't LOVE it, but I liked it. The various stories were of varying quality, one of which was unnecessarily gory.

My favorite part of that was actually the "extra" cartoon on the DVD. Great Halloween fare.

Don't know if American Werewolf in London was very scary but it was pretty good. So is Silver Bullet, especially if you want one your kids can watch.

Like others here, I love the Phantasm series as creepy, scary movies along with the original Halloween. I also like the old Universal Studios classics: The Phantom of the Opera, Dracula, Frankenstein, The Mummy, Bride of Frankenstein, Werewolf of London, Son of Frankenstein, The Wolf Man, and Creature from the Black Lagoon

Universal Monsters - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The scariest movies for me:

The Strangers
Halloween (the original)
The Shining
The Exorcist
The Blair Witch project

Honorable mentions:
Paranormal Activity
Amityville Horror

Any of these would be good halloween rentals.

The 1963 version of "The Haunting" has scared to me death every time I've seen it. Don't confuse it with the laughable 1999 remake.
