2001 - Dave's transition from warp speed to being in the "room" at the end, always see something new in it, always fascinates me.

The Witches of Eastwick.
Jack Nicholson marching into the church, all mad, and goes off on a tirant.
I love black comedy, and no one could have done that tirant like Jack.
Awesome!

Difficult to say....of course.

If someone were to look at my diaries, they might say that this is

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ze3dRODgAiA
because of how often it shows up as this pic
http://vignette3.wikia.nocookie.net/...path-prefix=en
......and they would be wrong. The pic has a reference to my life but the scene, while pretty good (though the Federation is getting cheated by whoever builds their photon torps), isn't that great.

To me, what makes a scene the tops is based on at least three sections: what we see, what we hear such as in lines and music, and how it makes us feel.

I suppose it is best to take it parts.

Comedy wise: It's from the movie "A New Leaf" (1971), either the proposal scene or where Henry tells Harold that he has lost all his money.
Not from the movie, but the proposal scene went something like this:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fKr7YMoCRog

Action wise: the Lotus land chase in "The Spy Who Loved Me". It's got all the right stuff and little comedy reliefs, unlike the boat chase in "Live and Let Die".

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eM7TiNAjIfE

Romance wise: Roxanne

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UeoFKR-94SE

Drama: The Day of the Dolphin

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R5Mx_c3duF0

Sci Fi: this one is difficult . The best is the death star attack from "The Return of the Jedi" because the action keeps one engaged by a wonderful mix of moving between three scenes. The catch is, it's not one scene, but three scenes. So the vote goes to the asteroid chase in "The Empire Strikes Back".

Femme Fatale: The restaurant scene from "Point of No Return".

Firepower Galore: Terminator vs LAPD in "T 2".

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8RbL4PwTDsQ

Aircraft: Aquaduct chase, Blue Thunder

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QHHvSjaHU7c

Likewise, best close up: F-16 shootdown, Blue Thunder (starts at 7:24)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Md5iZxgtL5k

Monologue: Opening, "Planet of the Apes" 1968

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4RiypkZjtIM

Foreign: Swiri 1999 (may not have been the best foreign movie, though)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CjMMNhifztY

Best Villain: Villains are difficult because they can be "best" based on how sauve they are, like John Lazar in "Deathstalker 2", how confident like Yaphet Koto in "Live and Let Die", how you really don't want to get on their bad side such as Robert Davi in "License to Kill" to how utterly disgusting they are like Joseph Maher in "The Evil that Men Do".......to their most rewarded demise which is probably the chicken pimp in "The Exterminator". The best actor to probably play the villain is Malcolm McDowell, he does it so well. So from there, one just has to find his best scene in his best movie.

HOWEVER, I can't say what his best scene is since it is PG-13 here, so I'll have to pick another candidate. So.o.................Thulsa Doom

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wgN1sLcAQnw

Best Torture scene: Casino Royale, easily.

Best Hero:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NPyUzaq8CbI

Best lady in peril: On Her Majesty's Secret Service. The thing is that in the modern movie, they often do a pretty good job of rescuing themselves or at least, chopping down the odds.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T91HyRBVklE
(starts at 3:00) and

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KwLDZLBeSQo

Best Sword Fight: The Four Musketeers, 1974

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tE3TbBwSVe8

Etc, etc, etc.....................

Jaws - the first time the shark came out of the water !

I saw this in the theater, when it came out, on a huge screen. We were right up in front. When that shark came out of the water, it really felt like it jumped through the screen !

Somewhere in Time when the moment Jane Seymour is getting her picture taken and then she sees Christopher Reeves...her face lights up. Then we realize that the picture taken is the same one in the hotel many years afterwards. Gives me chills.

The Sixth Sense where Bruce Willis (and the audience) realize he is dead. Also in the car where the kid explains things to mom. Toni Collette should have gotten an Oscar for that scene
