But no, I don't enjoy movies where I am supposed to root for the criminal. And I don't mean the guy everyone thinks is the criminal who is really operating under a corrupt regime or whatever...I mean actual criminal.

For instance, I found Ferris Bueller to be an obnoxious ass...(not that he is a criminal)...I was supposed to think he was cool and root for his exploits. On the other hand, in Star Wars, the rebels are technically criminals and enemies of the empire, but we know that the empire is twisted and corrupt and never the will of the people to begin with.
LOL...this post makes me think of Where the Wild things Are. I was unable to finish it because I really, really hated that punk Max. Yeah, I know hating kids is "wrong" but what a brat.

The remake? What a lousy, overrated pile that was.

I saw parts of Walk the Line but had a hard time sitting through it-can't stand Reese Witherspoon.

The ones I can't believe others haven't seen would probably be my favorites; movies like Unforgiven, On the Waterfront, G'father II, Angels With Dirty Faces, Treasure of the Sierra Madre, In the Heat of the Night, Dog Day Afternoon, Bugsy, From Here to Eternity, etc..

This brought something to mind.

There are people who have read the books that movies are made from, and almost invariably, they think the movie sucks after reading the book. And they are almost always right. Sometimes it is painful to see what Hollywood had done to their favorite books.

After a while, they just stop going to movies that are based on books that they have read and loved.

I do somewhat like the movie, but in spite of Ferris Bueller, not because of him. I always thought he was the least appealing part of the movie. I know it's hard to like a movie where you dislike the main character, who is in about every scene, but I do sort of like the overall story. But yes, Ferris is a smart ass teenager, not my favorite kind of people.

I've never seen any of The Godfathers [I really have no interest in seeing them] and I've never watched all of Scarface [Something always comes up when I watch it]. I've also never seen a lot of the Disney classics like Sleeping Beauty, Snow White, The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, Beauty and The Best and more.

I'm always shocked when someone hasn't seen The Color Purple.
