I saw it and was deeply touched to the point where I think I may need to see it again. Don't be sold on the fact that Brad Pitt is in it - it's not for everyone. It's long, it's overindulgent, it's incoherent and disjointed. But at the same time, it's familiar, thought provoking, deeply personal and beautiful to see. If that at all sounds like your cup of tea, then by all means see it without delay.

Well, I've been waiting for it to come out for so long. The thing that concerns me the most is that Sean Penn is in it, and I can't stand him, and I don't think I've ever seen any movie with him in it, and really don't care to, but, I really want to see this movie.

Thanks for the info.

I wouldn't worry about that - he's only in it for a few minutes, really.

I'm going to wait till it's on Netflix. Been reading reviews about people walking out of it very disappointed.

I'm curious about the movie but will wait for the DVD. Terrence Malick movies have always been a big disappoint for me. His movies are always absolutely gorgeous to behold but utterly boring. When it comes to cinematic imagery, no one does it better than Malick. When it comes to plot and pacing, the guy needs to go back to school. The characters in his movies always strike me as having just woken up from a long nap.

Smile Read a review of it

My husband and I saw it. People walked out. We stayed. When I went home and read the review, I understood it a lot better.

You will think about it.

If you've enjoyed or appreciated Malick's other movies, then you should absolutely give this a watch. I don't think it will be the same to see it on a small screen. Some of the sequences are some of the most beautiful I've ever seen in a theater. I will agree that this is a flawed film in some ways, but it attempts things I've never seen any movie do before.

And without spoiling anything else, Sean Penn has about 5 minutes of screen time, though his character has much, much more.

Thanks. I'm not much of a movie watcher, so I don't even know who Malick is. I don't know who a lot of actors and actresses are, but, I've heard quite a bit about this movie, mainly about it taking so long to come out. I've only seen Penn in Mystic River, but I've read quite a bit about him.

Thanks for all of your responses.

What was the link between the main plot about the Texas family, and the big bang sequence?

I mean the first 25 minutes was about the family and it suddenly went into the creation sequence.

Also what was the sequence on the beach about - was it the afterlife?
