I really liked Crazy Heart and also the ever popular Dazed and Confused.

Office Space is another good one.

Dazed and Confused (I didn't grow up in Texas, but that movie could have been about me in high school). Another Linklater classic based in Austin, TX - Slacker.

Friday Night Lights. Last Picture Show. Solid flicks.

Have any of you watched Death Proof? Pretty decent TX based flick by Tarantino.

How about True Stories? Quirky 80's movie with David Byrne of Talking Heads and John Goodman.

Friday Night Lights tells it like it is. I stayed one night in Big Spring, Texas at Motel 6, got some chow at the Rip Griffith Truck Stop next door to it. Midland is 35 miles west of Big Spring and is one of the areas involved here. There was two school buses packed with people from the outlying small communities packed with fans heading to Odessa. Midland versus Odessa-rivalry and a half! It was a live telecast on an independent tv network. Talk about a crowd! 10,000 easy! Friday Night Lights gets it right here!

The Rookie. What a show! Story is set in Big Lake, Texas and I've been there! Hwy. 33 comes south out of Big Spring. Big Lake has the big lake on the west side of the highway and the town on the east side of the highway. The hwy. leads south to I-10. Jim Morris was on a motivational speaking tour and came through my area 5 years ago. Great guy, great advice to the kids, and a great story involving his rise, fall, and comeback!

Good stuff here Dave!
