I saw Alvin and the Chipmunks and figured it would be similar to that. I see no purpose in making these types of shows live action.

Well at least alvin and the chipmunks stayed true to the 80's tv show, this smurfs movie is an absolute disaster.

Movies aren't about quality. They're about profits. Franchises make profits. Even PIXAR is not immune to this. Hence MONSTERS UNIVERSITY, TOY STORY 2, TOY STORY 3, FINDING DORY, PLANES, etc. Sad, because the one sequel I really want to see (INCREDIBLES 2) seems to be the one sequel they aren't making.
I have zero desire to see either the first SMURF movie or the second. But then, I never really liked the cartoon. If you don't like it, don't watch it.

^^This, exactly.
It is a business first and foremost. Yes, sometimes we get some art thrown in, but, business first.

I Love the cartoon series, but the movie is a disgrace and it will be on my list of the year's worst film.
at least pixar was not only about profits, it was about quality, unlike this trash.

Very much agreed. MONSTERS UNIVERSITY was cute.
I'm not inherently against sequels, remakes, reboots, etc. It's all about the quality. If it's a good movie, I want to see it.
