I'm one of the people who loves the Princess Bride, but I never liked the actors who play the two main characters. They almost kill the whole movie. I think the movie must be good, because it's good enough to withstand two terrible primary stars (Robin Wright Penn and Carey Elwes).
I hated Pulp Fiction. I felt like the only person in America who hated it.
I also tried to watch The Matrix but bailed out after 15 minutes. I just hated it.
I admit that The Godfather movies bored me silly. Yeah, I know, not a popular opinion.
There was some godawful movie with Ryan Reynolds a few years ago -- Just Friends -- it was execrable. If that is what a "romantic" comedy is nowadays -- we're in a lot of trouble. The main character was so hateful. Has Reynolds ever made a good movie? He needs to make a good independent film, stat.
I tend to avoid overly violent movies. Most modern movies with "special effects" bore me, because I know that it was done with a computer.
I rarely actually go to a movie house for various reasons, but mostly because my husband prefers movies with lots of shooting and I HATE those. I see enough violence and crime on the nightly news. I hate cold, dark, end-of-humanity apocalyptic movies.
I prefer older movies anyway. They made those movies with tender, loving care. It wasn't just "product" made by big corporations.
I'm not sure if I've already posted here, but I really hated Forest Gump and Cast Away. (Come to think of it, I try to avoid anything with Tom Hanks in it.) I don't see what anyone sees in either one of them.
In addition I hated Gone With the Wind. Pro-slavery propaganda.
I "get" what it was, don't see how it was so unique.
I mostly enjoyed Pulp Fiction, but I totally understand this criticism, and the criticism others are giving it. I think of the movie as Quentin Tarantino's public masturbation. He's just indulging himself, and stroking his own likes/dislikes and references to other movies, and inviting others to watch and agree how clever he is.

The Lord of the Rings pictures.
