"Madame X." It goes from sad to sadder to worse. Movies where a mother gets a child taken away and never can see him again rips your heart out. Then has to pretend she does not know him when he is grown.

"Imitation of Life" is another mother, child sad movie.

For me without a doubt it is Shindler's List. Just a very powerful movie. My mom had two close friends who were sisters who emigrated to this country from Poland a couple years before german forces moved in.

Just hearing the theme song brings on the waterworks for me. This is my #1 by a wide margin.

Thank you janelle! I totally overlooked this first movie...now I'm gonna have to check it out.
Several posters suggested "Imitation of Life..." and watched it. Have the box of Kleenex ready...kind of movie.

All I have to do is hear the theme music from "Brian's Song" and I get teary.

Another true story movie that is so very sad is "Something for Joey." It's about John and Joey Cappelletti.
