I was never a big fan of Nicholas Cage, but I liked him in Bringing Out the Dead. And of course Raising Arizona.

Agree with others who've brought up Tom Cruise in Magnolia; I think that was his best performance.

I don't care for Tom Cruise either but he was a force to reckon with in Collateral and The Last Samurai.

Matrix was it for Keanu. Again that role might have not been a huge stretch for his type of acting either but he shined in that role.

I liked him best in Kiss of Death.

I'm going to second Jack Black in The Holiday. I really enjoyed that movie and thought it was by far his best performance. His other movies seriously drive me nuts.

If he could get into more roles that play to his strengths like he did in The Holiday then I'd be curious to see how his career would change. I also think the other actors in that movie really supported his role...

I agree he does a lot of crap movies in between his stand out performances, which is probably why he is overlooked when people think of talented performers. I saw "Collateral" for the first time a few weeks ago; excellent thriller and great, intelligent movie. The performances, direction, script, dialogue, everything was top notch.

I'm going with Brad Pitt as Achilles in "Troy." Prior to this role he was a second rater with the "Bod."
This is where he started to build his acting "chops" and has been consistently evolving ever since.

Cameron Diaz, not taken seriously as a dramatic actress, was actually quite good in "In Her Shoes".

I totally agree with you...

Anthony Hopkins in the Hannibal series. I feel he is overrated in general but I do enjoy his movies. Wish he would diversify his roles a bit more.

Stallone in Rocky and Rambo series.
Arnold in the Terminator series.

^Easily the 2 worst actors to ever grace the screens^

Watch "Legends of Fall". He can act.
