Ads on movie DVDs. Are the studios trying to annoy consumers on purpose? (film, movie theater)

I watched the movie The Tourist the other day and in order to actually get to the movie I had to FF through nine separate segments which included either ads or previews of other movies and of course the stupid legal disclaimers.
The DVD would not allow me to skip these segments and go directly to the movie as I tried to do that going to disk menu but that was "not available".
Why do these hollywood studio jerkoffs seem to want to tick off the consumers?

It's right up there with those anti-piracy ads. Here in Australia they even have one that goes on about how pirating movies is killing the local film industry! I don't think that's the cause...

It's no different then sitting through the previews on a VHS or in a movie theater.
