I loathe remakes...

It's like re-writing a book. Pointless.

"Oh, you enjoyed reading Stephen King's classic novel 'The Stand'? Well check out Bob Smith's 'The Stand'!"

I stay away from remakes, they only make me mad. I guess people that haven't seen the original might like a remake. They have nothing to compare it to so, they can't make a fair judgement, IMO. Hollywood should be ashamed.

IMO modern movies are just the cartoons of past decades with better animation.
Add Better Off Dead to that list!

Ridley Scott is actually planning a prequel/sequel now to Blade Runner And I heard today that they are also planning a remake of Bonnie and Clyde in which Hilary Duff () was cast as Bonnie (but has since been dropped b/c of her pregnancy). So, they aren't even limiting themselves to 80's movies anymore, now they're going back even further

I guess in Hollywood studios these days instead of someone pitching an idea like "Die Hard on a bus!" or "Adam Sandler is a guy who does____", the executives just scroll down a list of films on Netflix to pick what to remake next.

There's also planned remakes of films that weren't even that great to begin with--Short Circuit, Child's Play and even Dune(!?) They're remaking the Crow also--not sure who was clamoring for that one either.

Next thing you know they'll run out of superhero franchises or 1980s films or cartoons to remake and start making films based on cheesy 90s sitcoms. "We'll remake Family Matters as a movie, but it will be edgy, and Urkel will solve a mystery involving a gang of jewel thieves."

I can almost imagine that conversation: "I want to play that part so bad 'cause I would look so good in a beret!"
