Electric Dreams

"The Duel" Scene - Electric Dreams Movie - YouTube ~ musical moment
This is perhaps my favorite scene: "Duel" between Virginia Madsen and Edgar the Computer.

Lambada

Lambada: Set The Night On Fire - A Fantasia de Sandy - YouTube ~ musical moment
J. Eddie Peck's presence is a perk! That's Melora Hardin's character having a fantasy about her math teacher/hot dancer/former bad boy (JEP).

Amanda & the Alien

Amanda and The Alien [1995] Part 1 - YouTube ~ Part 1

Netherworld

Netherworld - Trailer (1992) Michael Bendetti - YouTube ~ trailer

Cat-Women of the Moon

I really liked "Ghost World" when it first came out. The movie was based on an illustrated novel with a bunch of odd characters and the way they interacted with their environment. Thora Birch and Scarlett Johansson were in it, as well as Steve Buscemi. I watched it possibly five times in one week.

I saw it in school, either elementary (K-4) or middle school (5-8). It left an impression, as you can tell. My husband also remembers seeing it in school.

This is in my top ten movies of all time. It is exactly what you said - a movie that you just couldn't make today. Did you know Michael Caine married the lovely young girl who played the 'queen' married to Sean Connery's character? Last I heard they are still together.

I would add a few more titles forgive me if someone already mentioned these:

Pink Flamingos; Polyester; essentially, any John Waters
Stranger Than Paradise
Run Lola Run
Kontroll
Taxidermia
Memento
U-Turn
Talk To Her
Topkapi
The District!
Edward Scissorhands (I cry every time)
Bagdad Cafe
Birdy
