Man, this is a great thread. Lots of scenes come to mind for me, but here's a few I could find (sorry if these have been posted already, I didn't look through the whole thread):

2001: A Space Odyssey is a work of art like no other I've seen. HAL's death was tragic, and Dave's softness towards him as he literally stabs him to death was just incredible to watch:

This is great for lots of reasons. Forrest's reaction when Jenny first throws her shoes, the way she falls, great editing and composition, and emotional without being overacted:

Say what you want about Staying Alive, but when it comes to ending a character's story that spans two films - this scene is perfect. And I love that a movie about the body ends with such an emphasis on the male form. Also, allowing Travolta's character to see the famous George Cohan statue and grow to twice its size in the frame was brilliant, imo:
