This made me think of the scene in "The Band Wagon" where Fred Astaire tried to angrily break a record, which frustratingly wouldn't break, because they had just come out with "unbreakable" records.

That picture, by the way, had what I think was the greatest dance scene of all time, when the Astaire and Cyd Charisse characters trying not to admit that they were suitably matched as dance partners in a show:

My favorite scene in Himmel Uber was the one where they guy first saw the world in color, and had to go around asking the names of the colors of things. And the trapeze scenes with the breath-takingly beautiful Solveig Dommartin.

"Wings of Desire" could make a legitimate claim to the greatest movie ever, with plenty of memorable scenes. Here is a compilation and a few complete scenes.
