Based on the trailer, it looks like possibly one of the worst films of the year. You don't mess with a classic. Hopefully they don't re-make Ferris Bueller's Day Off.

Remake coming out this week and I just want to know................why???
I'll just watch the original. What a waste of $$$$$$$ to make another when the original is just fine.

Same here.

I don't know if the new Footloose is good or not, and I really couldn't care less. I think it's stupid to do the exact same story, happening during the same era, etc... Even the music is the same!!

My husband told me that the producers/writers probably wanted to "sell" this story to a young audience who would never, ever watch the original movie...

That's what those moronic drones at the big studios think...there are plenty of kids who appreciate old films. Yes even from back in the 'olden days', the 1980s . What in heaven's name in an 80s movie would a kid not get? 'Omg, the 80s slang, I can't understand this stuff!!' Remember the scene by scene remake of Psycho back in the 90s? Talk about pointless. Or what about the recent 'Karate Kid' remake. That wasn't even a remake but a completely different movie. And it was Kung Fu not Karate, but of course to them it's just the same.

I don't see how it can be as good as the original. On DWTS they did a very slowed down of "Holding out for a Hero," one of the hits from that film. I hope that is not the actual song from the remake
