Movie Script (film, scripts, horror, screen)

Hi

I will be brief. I have absolutely no experience and even less knowledge in/about the movie business. However I have an amazing idea for a horror movie. I'm not here to debate that so please don't ask what it is or tell me it is difficult to make (duh). I just want to know the best route to go. Does one write a script? That is doable but it would take some time as all collaborators have other full-time careers. What about just pitching the idea? Any help is greatly appreciated. And I won't forget.

If you have the MacGuffin alone, you don't have anything particularly marketable. If you have a script with a bit of interesting character development or twists, then it needs written, polished, hopefully copyrighted, and someone to pitch it to. Remember "Blair Witch Project?" Shot cheap, but there were connections. Start searching for film festivals that are friendly to the genre, go to a few, meet some people, ask a few questions. If you have two or three scripts or other writing, so much the better.
