Bearing in mind that Schwarzenegger really can't act worth a damn, my choice was True Lies. This is, essentially, a satire. The cast all play various caricatures - and who better to caricature himself than Schwarzenegger? And the chemistry between Schwarzenegger and Tom Arnold really was terrific.

Otherwise, I'd say either Terminator or Terminator 2. In many ways, the latter is just a more polished version of the second. Neither suffers much from Schwarzenegger's lacking dramatic talents because he's playing a machine. Hard to say which is better. The first one has a certain edge to it, a grittiness, that the sequel lacks. But the sequel has a more fully-realized plot that is welcome. I'd probably give the edge to the second installment if the writer(s) hadn't gotten lazy and just decided to end the film the same way they ended the first - long, harrowing freeway chase followed by a showdown inside some industrial facility. Terminator 3 sucked, mostly from mediocre casting, but I do give it props for not weaseling out with a happy ending.

Predator wasn't bad for a pure action film, though not a single actor in that one could actually act (nice move putting Jesse Ventura in the film - he's so bad he makes Schwarzenegger look good in comparison).

He made some entertaining films, but nothing that I'll ever bother to see a second time.

I liked a lot of the movies he was in. Namely the Terminator series, True Lies and Kindergarten Cop.

It's funny. Day 1 when he comes back to the bedroom after substituting because his lady friend was sick from a flu bug and she had asked how his 1st day was. No matter how big and tough you act, some days with the little ones can leave you like Ah nold crashing down on the bed from what was obviously "one of those days".

The endless question/answer session with the little ones. As others have made note, "it's not a tomb auh!!".

Commando.
It probably had the worst dialogue. But for some reason I have that movie almost memorized line for line.

I laughed so hard when I saw kindergarden cop the first time esp when his partner got sick in the back of the car and the ferret came out at her and she screamed . Then when she told him those kids would eat him alive or something like that . LOL . seeing Linda Hunt that small woman next to him so very funny also .

For all the Arnold bashing, if a poll was taken of great American icons of the past 50 years, Arnold would likely finish in a notable spot.

I have to admire anyone that can do the following:
1) Rise from being the son of an Austrian cop to.....
2) Win Mr. Universe three times. Has anyone else done that?
3) Become Hollywoods highest paid actor for quite awhile. He was #1 while Stallone was #2 ~1990. This says a lot about our culture.
4) Become a popular governor of California. Very possible presidential timber. A lot of people were willing to re-write the rules for Arnold.
5) Trade it all for banging the Guatemalan maid.
6) Enjoy a pretty good reputation as a smart, cool guy.

He'll be back.
