Remember the mother crawling all over the walls and ceiling?

Oh, it's definitely laughable now!

It was probably the most memorable part for me as a kid though, and then when the meat from his face is slithering across the table...ahhhhh!

Oh this is a must-see film, but it is best shared with at least one other person.

You probably don't want to watch this alone! lol

Not exactly "funny"...but....not quite as realistic-looking as I remember!

This thread has made laugh and brought back memories. My uncle bought me a very similar clown right after the movie came out. You sure bet my mom threw it out!

Recently watched the Family Guy Poltergiest Episode and loved it...

Haha, well to be honest I don't have a problem watching horror movies alone. Its the aftermath that bothers me. I get nightmares for months and can't sleep well, and the sick part is I don't even believe in ghosts/spirits etc. Its the "psychological mindgame" these movies play with your mind long after you have watched it.....but one of these days I plan to man up again and watch the damn movie !!!

Default Oh, The memories!

Loved this movie, An all time classic. That creepy old reverend Kane gave me the willies. I think the special effects for it's time were state of the art and very effective.

The tragedies and mishaps surrounding this film were eerie as well, Despite likely being coincidences.

The creepy old guy wasn't in the original movie but the sequel. The two sequels were so bad, it's really a shame. The original movie by itself is good, and the story was "tight." The housing development was built on people's graves, and only the headstones were moved, not the bodies. The angry desecrated souls got unsettled, and were gathered together around some evil being (the "beast") and fixated on the little girl in order to do their haunting. So because they fixated on a child and her energy, it was first thought to be a Poltergeist phenomenon, but it turned out to be a haunting. It would have been great if it all just ended there.

But the sequels got all into some religious cult from the 1800s who all died in some cave that was even deeper than the graveyard that hadn't been moved. The cult leader was this Kane guy. And then there was some Native American legends and talismans and weird Indian powers thrown in, none of which was really relevant. The story got so bizarre and meandering, it lost any appeal the first move had.

No wonder most of the stars didn't even participate in III. Spielberg and Hooper didn't even want to do II. The poor girl died during the third film and the last scenes had to be shot with a stand-in and they just hid her face (kind of like Ed Wood finishing his movie with a stand-in when Bela Lugosi died in the middle of it). But with Ed Wood, it's fun cult-film kitsch. With Poltergeist III, it's just pitiful.
